Co-Existence is a series of sculptures that was shortlisted for the FUAM prize celebrating the best work of the undergraduate artists at the University of Leeds. It is featured in the Google Arts & Culture page as a virtual art show among other shortlisted projects.
The title Co-Existence refers to the need to gain a stronger connection with our natural environment and all the creatures that live on Earth.
The main inspiration when making the pieces was the Totemic structure, since it unites different elements to convey a narrative. The elements that my totemic constructions put together are human figures that merge with animals and plants.
The surfaces and textures of nature itself were also of inspiration and resulted in making me leave the surfaces of the sculptures unrefind and rough as well as embedding branches that I found directly in my garden.
